The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a national charitable service organization made up of women who can trace their roots back to the War for Independence – The Revolutionary War.

Our chapter, General Josiah Harmar, originated in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan on June 25, 1938. We promote education, patriotism, preservation of history, and are active with veterans. Specifically, we honor high school graduating seniors who are selected to be their school’s Good Citizen. We also work to promote the Constitution of the United States and to follow the American Creed. We firmly believe all Americans need to preserve patriotism and our American heritage.

Originally many of our members were teachers and our meetings were held on the third Saturday of the month at noon. That schedule holds even today, although we now serve the Sterling Heights, Macomb County, Michigan area as of the fall of 2004. We are a small group and normally meet in our homes, except for special events, so the location changes monthly. We do not meet during the months of January or July. Members enjoy an afternoon of friendship and also an opportunity to work on various patriotic projects.
